About The Founder

TuneSkool was founded by Carl Dawson, a professional musician with over 40 years of experience. Over the last 10 years he has been playing professionally and running a music studio in Stevenage, Hertfordshire called SoundView. 

SoundView offers studio facilities and production for a broad range of solo performers and bands.

"I have been writing music for nearly as long as I have been playing the guitar. Back in the 80’s I had an 8-track reel to reel recorder with an analogue mixing desk. A far cry from the modern digital studio we now run at SoundView Studios.”

Carl's History

Apart from his own guitar experience, playing in a range of bands in small and large venues, Carl has always been interested in the creative part of music making.

So, apart from guitar tuition, Carl helps performers find their creative path. This includes mentoring song and music writing. Carl has mentored a number of performers including Alex (Stoic the Poet), an up-and-coming YouTube star.

Carl has gained a comprehensive understanding of technique and music theory through decades of experience. 

His mantra for TuneSkool is ‘Technique & Theory are good servants, but poor masters.’

At Carl’s studio, SoundView in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, he caters for a huge spectrum of artists and music genres. 

From solo performers to full on rock bands, Carl knows how to get the best out of each. Joining Carl in the studio is a mix engineer / producer with major label credentials.
